Our speaker today was fellow St. Paul Sunrise Rotarian, Carol Arney. Upon retiring Carol took training from Al Gore’s foundation on climate change, Climate Reality Process.
She was passionate about the topic and decided to contribute by educating the public about the climate process going on. Her presentation to us was based on the Rotary Four-Way Test.
Some information you might find interesting:
- Since 1980 no colder than average years have occurred, we are heating up in the last 5 years especially
- Climate change affects especially the poor now in the early stages but eventually will affect us all.
- Winters are warming much faster than summers.
- Polar Vortex events like the ones recently are due to the splitting of the Polar Air Mass that sends it wavering over areas like America and Europe while the Poles are warmer than usual.
- Health affects from mosquitoes that were primarily tropical diseases are on the rise.
- Green Energy is on the rise much faster than anticipated.
- Though C02 plants will remain constant then lessen some in the future the added need for energy will be provided by wind, solar and other green technologies just being developed.
