Lakeville South Rotary Student of the Month
Emma Sistrunk
Dean Paul Donner

Lakeville South has chosen Emma Sistrunk for their December Rotary Student of the month.  The Rotary Award is specifically for seniors who have shown service above self. Emma has spent many summers volunteering at Winterhaven Stables. Cleaning up the barn, feeding horses, exercising horses, and helping people of all ages learn how to ride. She was inspired by the owner of the barn, Vickie Tyler, to help and give to others by her caring spirit for everyone around her. Emma helped organize and help at the Blood Drives held at Lakeville South through HOSA-future health professionals. It is important to donate blood and to support those doing so that they are more likely to have a good experience and donate again. Donating blood can help save lives for those who might die without a transfusion. Emma would like to thank Lakeville South for offering rigorous courses and activities that have helped shape her. She is a captain for the Alpine Ski team and her specialty is the slalom races. She really enjoys getting to help all the younger skiers out and cheer them on at races. Some of the courses Lakeville South offered such as AP Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology have helped her decide to continue her education at a higher level as a Biology major. For the future, her current top choices for colleges are St. Olaf and University of Carolina at Chapel Hill. With a Biology major, Emma would like to pursue a career in either research or medicine.
