Rotary Students of the Month-January
Each month of the school year, the Lakeville Rotary Club recognizes students of the senior class who demonstrate “Service Above Self”.
For the month of November Lakeville North High School has chosen Payton Camilli for the January Rotary Student of the Month.  Payton’s parents are Clark & Michelle Camilli and her Dean is Cheryl Meger.  Payton has been chosen due to a high GPA and class rank, as well as school involvement.   At Lakeville, North High School, Payton is in Now & Then and the Treasurer for Choir.  She is in a self-formed girls Quartet.  She has been in a school play, (Todd Sweeney).  Payton is a DECA officer, a member of Student Council, currently Treasurer, a Senior Class Officer, Treasurer, a member of Youth in Government.   She is a member of Speech, a Super Fan, a member of National Honor Society, and boys Soccer manager.  She has been in volleyball in years past.
Outside of Lakeville North High School, Payton volunteers to sing at Children’s Hospital, works at Vacation Bible School summer camp.  She has been in club soccer and in club volleyball.   Payton has attended Minnesota Business Venture, a camp sponsored by the Lakeville Rotary.
For the month of January Jake Abbott has been chosen for the Rotary Student of the Month from Lakeville South High School.
He is truly an outstanding young man with an extremely bright future.  He has an amazing resume including:
Alpine Skiing Lakeville South, All Conference 3 years, State Participant 2 years, Captain 3 years, Buck Hill Ski Racing Team, 3 time Junior Olympic Championships participant,3.68 GPA, Class rank 102 of 466,27 ACT, Numerous AP and Honors courses, Soccer participant, Soccer tots volunteer coach, and Volunteer with Hosanna.
At age 2 it was discovered that Jake could not hear due to nerve damage. Began using hearing aides at a young age and reading lips to comprehend. Started school in Gideon Pond Elementary in a program for hearing impaired Students.  Moved to Crystal Lake Elementary in fourth grade with teachers using an FM system to amplify sounds.  Attended Kenwood Middle School and Lakeville South High School, where he continued to use the amplifying system.  Jake has overcome his hearing difficulties and been extremely successful both in the academic and athletic settings.
Jake plans on pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering while attending Michigan Tech University and is a finalist for the Michigan Tech Leading Scholar Scholarship.  He will also be on the ski team at Michigan Tech.  He is one of the nicest, hardworking, well respected students that I have known at Lakeville South High School.
Parents – Dave and Tammy Abbott his Dean is John Boche.
