Brett Altergott gave us a nice overview of the planned reconstruction of Lakeville's premier playground, the Land of Amazement at Michaud Park.  It is a big project with a total cost of about $375K.  The City will obviously pick up a large part of this cost, but the city will also rely on contributions from service organizations and corporations to get this done.  In addition, the majority of the construction will be done through a "citizen build", which will save about $100K and allow this playground to be even more appealing...

Our club visioning exercise concluded that large, visible projects in the community should be a priority for our club every year.  In the past we helped with the Art Center, the Heritage Center, the Miracle Field and the Miracle Playground.  This summer, we are donating 12 benches to the downtown Pioneer Plaza.  The Land of Amazement is a logical next project, fits our criteria well. and warrants our support for the the coming year.
