Rotary Students of the Month - May 25

Each month of the school year, the Lakeville Rotary Club recognizes students of the senior class who demonstrate “Service Above Self”.

Lakeville North High School has chosen Wade Sullivan as the May Rotary Student of the Month.   Wade has been a letter winner in football, a Team Captain, the MN Prep Spotlight Club Born & Raised Athlete of the Week.  Also in football at Lakeville North, Wade has been a high school state tournament participant, the team MVP, winner of East Metro All-District award, MN Gatorade Player of the Year, MN Vikings All State Team winner, and received the MN Mr. Football award.

Wade is also a letter winner in wrestling, received the Lakeville North Wrestling Most Valuable Wrestler award, received All-Conference Award and many other awards in wrestling.  Most recently, Wade is Captain of the Hamline Elite Meet in Track & Field.  Wade was the St. Paul Lions Club male athlete finalist of the year.  Wade has been a Lakeville North Best Buddies volunteer and a youth football and wrestling volunteer.  Wade also volunteered at the Lakeville Art Festival for the past two years and the Lakeville Community Clean Up Day this spring.

Wade’s parents are Dana & Matthew Sullivan and his Dean is Holly Standke.

For the month of May Kathryn Strege will be recognized as the LSHS Rotary Student of the Month.  Kathryn is an outstanding student and athlete at Lakeville South High School.  She consistently demonstrates strength in excellence, commitment, and determination.

Kathryn hopes to earn a degree in college that is connected to Medicine. She has demonstrated she is college ready by maintaining a GPA of 4.207, and successfully completing many college prep courses, such as AP Language, AP World History, AP Psychology, and AP Calculus.  She continues to challenge herself her senior year by selecting courses such as AP Literature, AP Physics, and AP Macroeconomics.  Kathryn has the ability balance a rigorous course load, participate in many activities, and be a very active volunteer in our community.

Kathryn’s positive attitude and her willingness to advocate for herself is very impressive.  By her actions, it is clear she is a positive leader through her commitment to an intense work ethic. She participates in Trap Shooting and Track at Lakeville South.  She Fosters dogs and helps with conservation in many ways.   During her free time, she volunteers at the sportsman club and she works as a waitress, babysitter, and construction worker.

Kathryn Strege is an outstanding student/athlete and individual.  She has made a positive impact at LSHS and I am convinced she will make a positive impact on any program she becomes involved in.

Kathryn’s parents are Kyle and Sara Strege and her Dean is Paul Donner.

Our program was given by Megan Voronyk, The Link,

The Link was founded in 1991 by former Minnesota Vikings players, Jim Marshall and Oscar Reed, who wanted to support youth in north Minneapolis who were being victimized by crime, getting involved in crime and who were struggling with poverty and homelessness. The Link is still based in their original vision and in north Minneapolis. The Link has grown from a two-staff member organization with three programs to an organization that has 19 programs across the Twin Cities area, employs over 150 adult and youth staff members and supports nearly 3,000 youth and young families each year. The Link offers programming in three areas:

Housing & Supportive Services Division: housing and supportive services for youth and young families experiencing homelessness

Juvenile Justice Division: positive alternative programs for youth in the juvenile justice

Safe Harbor Division: emergency shelter, housing and supportive services for youth who have been sexually exploited
