Classifcation Talk - Marshall Cook
Marshall Cook, Pat Arling

Marshall S. Cook, M.D. is a retired USAF Colonel (Medical Corps) and Internal Medicine Physician. Dr. Cook joined Lakeville Rotary this past fall after transferring from  the Rotary Club of Orofino, ID (District 5080). In Orofino he was the Club President in 2004-2005 and 2nd time Club President in 2014-2015. He served as Assistant District 5080 Governor, Area 9 in 2005-2008.  Dr. Cook is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor.

Marshall  was originally from Lincoln, NE and as a teen he had the opportunity to live in many areas. Marshall attended the University of Nebraska where he majored in Zoology and went on to medical school and the US Air Force.

He has been married to his wife Margaret over 50 years and they have two daughters and two grandchildren.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Our speaker for February 8th was Nate Miller. Nate and his wife Stephanie are joint members of the Sleep In Heavenly Peace (SHP) Twin Cities Chapter. SHP is a nonprofit organization that builds and delivers beds for kids that don't have beds.

Nate’s full time day job is with Northern Tool and he started the SHP Twin Cities chapter in 2016. They completed their first bed build at Northern Tool in April 2017. Last year the SHP Twin Cities chapter built and delivered 150 beds within the Twin Cities area. This year they are hoping for 200 beds.

How does the program work?

They raise funds, find a build location, gather volunteers, and build single or bunk beds. An ideal build location would offer an 2000 square foot work area in heated building with cement floors.

How do the deliveries work?

Applications are accepted through the website,  https://www.shpbeds.org/  reviewed by Nate and Stephanie for kids that are seeking beds that currently do not have beds. Nate shared that is surprising how many children do not have a bed.

Each bed cost $150 to make and they are always looking for financial and volunteer support.
