FEBRUARY 2016 ROTARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Each month of the school year, the Lakeville Rotary Club recognizes students of the senior class who demonstrate “Service Above Self”.

Lakeville North High School has chosen Nick Kelly as the February Rotary Student of the Month.    At Lakeville North High School Nick is involved in many activities and a member of Speech, Student Council, National Honor Society as well as Marching Band, football and track and field.  Nick is the editor-in-chief and beat reporter for the Lakeville North Star.

Outside of Lakeville North High School, Nick is a sports reporter for Star Tribune Sports Hubs.  Nick is a prep writer for the Minnesota Hockey Magazine.   Nick is also a student reporter for the Minnesota State High School League.

After high school, Nick plans to attend the University of Missouri where he will be a direct admit to the School of Journalism. Nick’s parents are Charles & Jodi Kelly.  Nick’s dean is Dan McNulty.

For the month of February, Lakeville South High School has chosen Shea Bougie as the February Rotary Student of the Month. Shea is a leader in our DECA program, swim team, and in the Lakeville South Community. She is an outstanding student, athlete, but most importantly Shea is just a great person. Shea’s character can best be summed up by her swim coach Rick Ringeisen:

“Shea is one of the finest individuals I have coached in my career.  Shea leads both by example and vocally.  Shea trains hard to be her best when the team needs her.  She is unselfish and consistently places the goals of the team above herself.  Shea's greatest qualities are that she brings joy and sunshine wherever she goes.  People light up when they see her.  The reason that happens is that Shea is one of those exceptional people who make everyone around her better.  When you consider Shea's intelligence, dedication and abilities it all adds up to making her what I call a member of the 1% club!  The 1% club consist of the top 1% of all people in the world.
It has truly been my pleasure to coach Shea Bougie!”

Shea Bougie parents are David and Kara Barnes and Joe and Heidi Bougie and her Dean is Shaun Murphy.
