For the month of May Kayla Severson will be recognized as the Lakeville South Rotary Student of the Month. Kayla is an outstanding student at Lakeville South High School.  She consistently demonstrates strength in excellence, commitment, and determination.

Kayla hopes to earn a degree in college that is connected Energy Resources and Writing. She has demonstrated she is college ready by maintaining a GPA that is higher than any student I have ever worked with.  She has successfully completed many college prep courses, such as AP Language, AP World History, AP Physics, and AP Calculus.  She continues to challenge herself her senior year by selecting courses such as AP Literature, AP Physics II, AP Computers, and AP Macroeconomics.  Kayla has the ability balance a rigorous course load, participate in many activities, and be a very active volunteer in our community.

Kayla’s positive attitude and her willingness to advocate for herself are very impressive.  By her actions, it is clear she is a positive leader through her commitment to an intense work ethic. She participates in Math League, Painting, and has established herself as a Published Author.   She wrote the book ‘Nature’s First Gem Is Green’. During her free time, she volunteers and works at Medtronic, where she is currently interning.

Kayla Severson is an outstanding student and individual.  She has made a positive impact at LSHS and I am convinced she will make a positive impact on any program she becomes involved in.
