Each month of the school year, the Lakeville Rotary Club recognizes students of the senior class who demonstrate “Service Above Self”.

For the month of December Lakeville South High School has chosen Kacy Rodamaker as the Rotary Student of the Month at Lakeville South High School for December.

Kacy is an outstanding student who participates in many extracurricular activities. She is the track and field and cross country captain. She leads a group middle school girls at her church and is involved in Feed my Starting Children and National Honor Society. The cross country coach shared a little story that Kacy told the team of 120 runners. Here is the short version. "So an Impala is animal, and it is known for its jumping ability. It can jump 12 ft. high and 30ft long. However, if a 3 ft. wall is placed in front of it, the impala won't jump over it because it can't see the bottom where it is landing, even though it would be an easy task to do. I think it's another good metaphor for running! Not being able to see the future holds us back from our ultimate goals -- we are afraid to jump -- afraid to take a chance and move out of our comfort zone. This next race, toss the Impala instinct aside and jump...jump for a new record that you may have never imagined before...” As you can see she has determination and a will to succeed but also the ability to lead. Kacy’s’s parents are Karn and John Fleming and Craig Rodamaker.  Kacy’s dean is Rachel Ruzzi.

For the month of December, Polly Sjoberg has been chosen for the Rotary Student of the Month from Lakeville North High School. Polly has been chosen for her high academics along with leadership and extracurricular activities.  At Lakeville North High School, she is a 2 year captain for basketball and captain for soccer.  Polly is a Panther Prep leader, a member of National Honor Society, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), Youth Teaching Youth and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Polly is the Harvard Prize Book award winner and an AP Scholar with Distinction.

Outside of Lakeville North High School, Polly is a Bible study leader, a teacher for Sunday School Kindergarten class, a leader for kids at Vacation Bible School, and a teacher for confirmation class.  In 2014, she was on a summer mission trip to the Dominican Republic.  Her work experience is at Imagery Photography and a summer nanny.  Polly has volunteered at Ebenezer Nursing Home as well as worked at basketball camp for third to eighth graders. Polly’s parents are Jeffrey and Kristine Sjoberg.  Polly’s dean is Paul Donner.
