Doc Aak introduced our speaker, Tim Mulcrone, PolioPlus Chair for District 5950. Having been inspired as a GSE Team Member to Chile in 1985, Tim Mulcrone became a charter member of Chanhassen Rotary in 1987.  He is a Past President, Multiple Paul Harris Award Recipient, has served on the District’s Group Study Exchange Committee, Club Visioning Team and as Assistant District Governor of Area 6.  He has also played an active role in Chanhassen Rotary’s relief efforts in Chimbote, Peru.  Tim has taken an interest in moving Rotary closer to completing our commitment to eliminate polio worldwide and was recently asked to lead the District’s polio fundraising effort.

Tim inspired, informed, and entertained our Club on the eradication efforts of Rotary throughout the world to End Polio. The fight started in 1955 when an oral Polio Vaccine was invented and hopeful to its end in 2014. Tim stated that is has been a long fight, fighting against other noble and needed interests and coming against new foes with myths and the Taliban. He shared how the fight for him is personal, with a story about his mom Annie and her brother Tim, and how Tim died at a very young age from Polio.  “We are this close”
